She Eats Fear for Breakfast

She eats fear for breakfast…Kali

She is calling you to face your fears.

On the next New Moon night, spend some time looking out into the darkness and ponder what you’re still afraid of. It’s all an illusion.

Kali is fierce, she is holding a string of skulls, she is wild, untamed, with blood dripping from her tongue, and stomping on demons.

She is the energy of fierce protection, safety, and grace. She is ironically and deliberately scary to look at.

Her anthropomorphized representation requires you to face your fear and call on her wisdom, her strength, her ferocious bravery and protection.

In Hindu mythology she emerges from Durga’s consciousness -when she desperately needed help saving the world.

Kali responds like fury and destroys demons with unrelenting might and ease; crushing fear, ego, illness, and illusion.

In this fierce form, it is with great compassion and love for the world Kali responds.

She is the universal Mother, protector of the fortress of your heart.

Those who can see beyond the blood, the wild hair, the rage, the dark imagery and courageously approach her to leave their fears with Her are blessed beyond measure. You can trust her implicitly and surrender.

The thing is……

Feeling Safe is a primal need. You’re wired to require safety for survival. Safety in community, in shelter, in resources, in food and water is how humans first used to survive and evolve.

But most of us have forgotten this.

Forgetting our connection to Earth the Moon, the stars, the wind, the sky the air you breath, that fuels the fire the rivers, and sea to life giving food nourishment by the sun

Forgetting:

the connection to community, to supporting one another

Without safety, we feel the need for protection. This activates your nervous system. We feel the need to fight, flee or freeze.

You’re not wrestling a sabertooth tiger in the jungle.

But still, your heart races, your hunger is suspended, your senses are heightened, your breathing changes. You’re -ready -to -run. You sense lurking danger. Fear. Panic. Nervousness.

This same nervous system activation can be triggered today simply by a reading social media post, or the news, or by being criticized, by job stress, financial stress or any change to the way we do things that make our survival instincts fire.

When you are repeatedly stuck in the loop of anxiety, your nervous system is on, and you are in perceived danger, your body is in overdrive and stuck producing chemicals over long term that are damaging.

There is a space inside where naturally we know this can’t be sustained, there is an internal cry for help. It is your body’s survival mechanism.

If when in despair we call to Her – the life force, the strength, the resolve, the life must go on, the grit -determination and courage finds us. All the struggle, pain and fear can be overcome.

You can teach your nervous system a different response pattern.

So we plant our feet on the ground, we place our hand on our heart, and we breathe. We lengthen our inhale and exhale. We make a sound on the exhale. A sigh of relief. We move our bodies, we dance, stretch and reach for the sky.

We become comfortable with change, comfortable in the unknown. We can adapt, overcome, and persevere. We can respond in relaxed strength, with courage and confidence.

Kali Maa exists in the space that is everywhere in everything. In the darkness, you may find her.

Kali is the strength, the force, the power of overcoming, of no-matter-what.

Out of your own darkness, a fountain of love, light and grace might spring.

Kali is dark like the night She is the veil between waking and dreaming between day and night between mind and ego between right and wrong between love and fear between safety and danger between health and illness

Kali heals the world and is the keeper of the night, of the cosmos. Kali dissolves demons, ignorance and fear of death Her power is greater than any negative force in the world.

Kali is the ultimate expression of grace, divine love, mercy, protection and life force.

Kali is where may you turn to face your fears, find the wisdom, compassion, and truth to surrender your ego, dissolve the negative tendencies of greed, of violence, of criticism and manipulation.

Kali Maa is mysterious, powerful and the Mother of compassion, grace and mercy.

Be warned: when you call to her in sincerity, be ready for what you are praying for.

She delivers what you need. Call and response. No matter what.

Kali Mantras:

OM KRIM MAHA KALI-KAYE NAMAHA

I bow to Kali the protective Mother of the Universe for wisdom, auspiciousness and freedom.

For deep healing and protection:

OM KRIM MAHA KALI SARVA ROGAM NASI NASI

May the root of all affliction and disease be removed from my mind, my body and from the collective.

Jai Maa (victory to the Mother)
